Member Volunteer Requirements and "Open Core" Philanthropies
MADCAPS junior members are required to perform a minimum of 20 hours of direct service each year, including at least 15 hours in that year's partner philanthropies (also called core philanthropies) for your class.
The additional five hours can be performed with your class core philanthropies or one of the open-core philanthropies. The open-core philanthropies are:
Additional hours beyond the annual 20-hour minimum can be performed with any nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in order to qualify for the gold, silver or bronze President's Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). MADCAPS is a certifying organization for PVSA.
Members are encouraged to nominate new partner (core) philanthropies for approval by the Board of Directors. To do so, please email the Philanthropy Committee Chair at madcapsphilanthropyboard@gmail.com and request a core philanthropy nomination form. Norminations are considered by the Philanthropy Committee and then may be forwarded to the Board of Directors for consideration.
*9th grade receives priority registration for TRS summer camp. After 9th graders have the opportunity to sign up, volunteer dates will be opened to grades 10–12.
