July 2021

Greetings fellow members!

It has been such an honor serving alongside former President Julie Connolly the past year who successfully navigated a super bumpy ride with such grace.  I look forward to an exciting year of service and friendship!

Based on MADCAPS Purpose and Mission, you will find the following addresses our three major goals: Community Service, Education and Communication.

Save the date: Fall “Philanthropy Rally!” (general meeting)

Date/Time: September 18, afternoon--time TBD

Details will be emailed to you and posted in your class webpage as well as on your social media pages.

Benefit Show Task Force Update: In support of our mission and goals, our task force chairs and committee have been working extremely hard creating three viable “show” options to present to the board for a vote in August. If you are interested in attending the meeting, please contact the benefit show task force This meeting will be the last chance for your input, so please come if you want to help shape our future!

Benefit Show Chairpersons Still Needed: We are still searching for benefit show leadership. No show related experience necessary. As the old saying goes, "many hands make light work," and ideally, we are hoping to build a team of multiple show chairs. If you are interested, please contact me

Philanthropy: The heart of our mission -- our goal is to seek better ways to serve the community. In case you missed the communication about opportunities to serve in the previous e-blast, please check your class pages. Point Loma Association continues to actively provide volunteer opportunities. Also, we are pleased to announce the distribution of $50,000 equally to our core Philanthropies. The source of the funding was from our unused social funds and the general fundraiser.

Education: Another major part of our mission is to “train our young volunteers.” Our Education Chair is exploring speaker opportunities for the upcoming year. Stay tuned.

Communication: Our third major goal for this year is to strengthen our communication. Social media as well as class pages via the website will be developed to provide you with the latest updates. Please take a moment to log on to our website and confirm your contact details and the graduation year for each junior member. We will continue to send monthly e-blasts from board level.

A special thank you to our newest board members for stepping up with passion and commitment to following MADCAPS’ mission!  Please send them words of encouragement. If you are on one of their committees, please reach out or support them in any way you can.

Happy volunteering and have a safe summer!
